<B>1893-CC $1 MS64 PCGS.</B></I> David Bowers, in his <I>A Buyer's Guide to Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States</B></I>, estimates the number of 1893-CC dollars (677,000 business strikes) that were melted to be: "Probably several hundred thousand under the 1918 Pittman Act."<BR>The near-Gem in this lot displays potent luster issuing from untoned surfaces. While usually weakly struck in the centers, this particular example exhibits sharp detail in the hair at Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers.
