When first suggested, rivalry among cities was keen, but Congressional Acts in 1890 settled the issue by selecting Chicago (original "The Garden City" but in modern times "The Windy City"). The Acts set up a National Commission to work with the World's Columbian Exposition (Company), chartered April 1890. The fair occupied almost 700 acres on the shore of Lake Michigan, mainly Jackson Park, then a barren area. Today, only the Fine Arts Palace remains (rebuilt in limestone, it is now a Museum of Science and Industry, called by many "a permanent World's Fair").
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.

Our item number 133363
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
