Apparently, most of the original mintage was dropped into circulation shortly after striking and no bags were in the silver dollar releases that occurred from the 1940s through the 1960s. As a result, Mint State survivors are now very elusive. This is a lightly toned example that is typically soft over Liberty's ear and on the breast feathers of the eagle. Satiny overall, there are a number of grade-limiting, yet small abrasions scattered over each side. An important offering for the Morgan dollar specialist. Census: 9 in 61, 30 finer (2/06).
