1892-S $20 MS64 PCGS. Breen-7312. This appears to be Breen's "1892/1-S" variety, although the raised elements within the 2 may simply represent a defective punch. This boldly impressed near-Gem offers scintillating luster and attractive preservation. The 1892-S double eagle is considered a common coin and finding an example in circulated or low-Mint State grades is easily accomplished. However, the PCGS Population Report provides a startling insight into the true condition scarcity of 1892-S twenties. A mere 67 have been graded at the MS64 level, with only one graded higher; a sole MS65 (4/07). International trade is to blame for this fact, as most S-mint double eagles of this era were shipped abroad shortly after being struck. The current example provides a scarce opportunity to acquire an 1892-S twenty in the upper echelon of extant pieces, in terms of technical grade.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
