1892-S<10C> MS65 PCGS. Somewhat fewer than 1 million examples of this issue were coined at the San Francisco Mint during the debut year of the Barber design. Several special varieties also exist, although this example appears to represent the "normal dies" for the issue. Although perhaps just shy of fully struck, all of the obverse and reverse design elements are well defined. The obverse is deeply toned with splashes of steel-blue toning over golden-brown color. The reverse is much brighter in appearance with attractive champagne, violet, and sea-green toning. A few darker toning spots are also visible. Both sides have full underlying cartwheel luster. Any abrasions that might be present are masked by the toning, giving the surfaces a nearly perfect appearance. Population: 19 in 65, 1 finer (11/05).
From The Collection of Dr. Steven L.
