<B>1892 S$1 PR67 Cameo NGC.</B></I> The abnormally large proof mintage, recorded as 1,245 coins, is likely due to the 1892 introduction of the Charles Barber designs for the dime, quarter, and half after so many years of Liberty Seated coinage. However, among the roughly 680 proofs of this issue certified at NGC and PCGS combined, only 66 pieces have achieved the PR67 grade or higher. With Cameo surfaces there are only two PR68 pieces at PCGS, while NGC has certified 15 coins in PR67 Cameo, with only three finer (4/07).<BR> This piece shows considerable contrast on each side, with thick frost over the ice-white devices, and blindingly mirrored fields that display just a slight golden cast.
