<B>1892 S$1 PR64 PCGS.</B></I> David Bowers (2006) writes that the proof mintage was overly large for this year as there was an exceptional demand for 1892 silver proof sets. He also mentions that "Many proof dollars were probably spent for face value." The PR64 specimen offered in this lot displays dusky gray, lavender, powder-blue, and gold patination. Generally well struck, save for minor softness in the centers. There are no significant contact marks, just a few unobtrusive obverse slide marks that preclude a higher grade.
