<B>1892 S$1 MS65 NGC.</B></I> VAM-5. If the revived 1921 issues are excluded, mintages of Philadelphia Mint Morgan dollars peaked in 1889. More than 21 million pieces were struck for that date, but production fell annually thereafter, until the 1895 was proof-only aside from the ephemeral 12,000 business strikes. The 1892 is by no means a great rarity, but its mintage of just above 1 million pieces makes it a better date, and it is rare as a Gem. This lustrous and lightly toned piece has clean surfaces and a reasonable strike.
