<B>1892 50C MS65 PCGS.</B></I> Many 1892 half dollars (934,000 business strike mintage) were saved as the first-year-of-issue. David Lawrence (1991) says that in Mint State, the 1892 is the most common date of the series. Indeed, PCGS and NGC have certified about 300 Uncirculated examples, primarily from MS60 to MS64. Fantastic luster radiates from both sides of this marvelous Gem, and sharp definition is apparent on the design features, except for usually-seen softness in the upper right corner of the shield. Light olive-green toning on the obverse is replaced by deeper olive-green, lavender, and electric-blue on the reverse. A few grade-consistent marks are well concealed within the toning.
