1892 50C Columbian PR65 NGC. Close inspection of the crisp detail over the Santa Maria's rigging in.
1892 50C Columbian PR65 NGC. Close inspection of the crisp detail over the Santa Maria's rigging in the center of the reverse confirms the proof status of this important first-year silver Commemorative. Also of note are appreciably bright fields that, at direct angles, shine through a rich overly of lavender-charcoal toning. The first 101 Columbian Halves produced in 1892 were prepared in proof format, as were the 400th, 1,492nd, and 1,892nd coins. Survivors of this limited specimen delivery are rare and always in demand as perhaps the ultimate representatives of this historically significant type. Population: 8 in 65, with only three finer (2/03). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
