<B>1892 50C Columbian PR63 PCGS.</B></I> While many prooflike examples are known for the Columbian halves, true proofs number around 100 pieces for each date (1892 and 1893). If the moderate reflectivity does not convince the viewer, the exceptional detail on the portrait, the waves, and the ship's rigging leave little doubt as to this piece's proof status. Gold-tinged haze appears on each side, and scattered hairlines and contact marks account for the grade. Still, the eye appeal of this example is strong.
