<B>1892 $5 MS66 PCGS.</B></I> The 1892 half eagle, with a mintage of 753,480 business strikes, is usually thought of as a common date. While a fair number of examples are in fact available through MS63, higher-grade examples are actually quite scarce. In Premium Gem, the level of preservation of the coin in this lot, only 45 pieces have been seen by PCGS and NGC combined, and fewer than 15 finer. Swirling luster radiates from peach-gold surfaces, and a powerful strike has emboldened the design features. A few minuscule obverse marks are not inconsistent with the grade designation.
