<B>1892 $5 MS66 PCGS.</B></I> Here is one of the so-called common date issues that is elusive in high grade, despite the discovery of a small hoard almost a decade ago. PCGS and NGC have certified fewer than 50 MS66 examples and about 15 pieces finer, many of which are probably resubmissions of a smaller number of actual coins. This remarkable piece exhibits frosty peach-gold luster and sharp design details. A few minor marks quite likely prevent the next highest grade. A spindly reverse crack travels through most of the letters of the legend and denomination.
