<B>1892 $5 MS66 NGC.</B></I> Though surprisingly elusive when all Mint State grades are taken into account, Garrett and Guth note that the 1892 half eagle is comparatively available in Gem or better grades, thanks to a small hoard of high-grade pieces identified in 1999. This uncommonly appealing example may have come from that group. The shimmering apricot-gold surfaces host well-defined devices that display only a handful of minuscule marks. A pretty piece that would make a strong candidate for a type or date set.
