For your consideration is this 1892 first edition copy of The Indian Wars of the United States from the first settlement at Jamestown, in 1607 to the close of the great uprising of 1890-91 by Edward S. Ellis. "With Numerous Illustrative Incidents." A beautiful and very large book, at 516 pages. An invaluable resource, and an in-depth study for any collector.Prolifically illustrated and enhanced with 132 black-and white steel engravings, many full-page, with accompanying descriptive captions. Gold gilt lettering on front board. Fifty chapters. From the introduction: "The history of the Indian wars of the Indian wars of the United States is a history of one continuous series of blunders, frauds, oppression, injustice, and crime that is a reproach to our nation. Here and there, in the record, a bright page shines out all the more vividly because of its contrast with the surrounding darkness. The condition of this book fair with some slight wear to the front cover and around the corners and some integral wear to the inside part of the spine. The measurements of this book are 10 1/2" x 7 1/2".
