<B>1891-CC $20 XF45 NGC.</B></I> The typical 1891-CC double eagle usually comes with an assortment of problems, including an uneven strike, excessively abraded surfaces (Douglas Winter, 2001, considers this issue one of the most heavily abraded of all Carson City gold coins, regardless of denomination), copper spots, and grease stains. The Choice XF example for sale in this lot exhibits strong delineation on the devices, save for softness in some of the star centers, possesses gorgeous apricot-gold coloration, along with ample luster for the grade, and reveals just the normal scattering of contact marks, virtually all of which are relatively light. Alloy spots and grease stains are completely absent.
