1891-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. The 5,000 piece mintage of this issue is the second-lowest for a double eagle from the Carson City Mint. The '91-CC is surprisingly not rare in circulated grades, considering its skimpy mintage; but it is very scarce in Mint State, and the single highest-graded example is an MS63 at PCGS. This piece is highly lustrous, and cartwheel effects are easily noticeable on the obverse. The light lime-gold and peach toning is appealing. Definitely well struck, with all of the obverse stars and each of Liberty's hair strands crisply defined, which is unusual for any date in the series. A few spots and scattered, minuscule blemishes limit the grade. Population: 9 in 61, 5 finer (11/06).
From The Kutasi Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
