<B>1891-CC $20 AU53 NGC.</B></I> The initial year of CC-mint coinage, 1870, and 1891 are responsible for the two lowest-mintage CC double eagles, but there the similarity ends. The 1870 is a great and expensive rarity, but the 1891-CC can be obtained, for a price, in any grade up through the lower Uncirculated levels. This AU53 specimen is about a typical grade for survivors, but it offers generous eye appeal, a combination of the pleasing surfaces that are only lightly abraded, the radiant luster still present, the yellow-gold coloration, and a remarkable absence of singular distractions.
