<B>1891 5C PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS.</B></I> Gloria Peters and Cynthia Mohon, in their <I>Complete Guide to Shield and Liberty Head Nickels,</B></I> say of the 1891 proofs, with a mintage of 2,350 pieces, that "This date will be tough to find in Gem condition." The PCGS/NGC data, however, would seem to indicate that examples through PR65 are somewhat available. In Deep Cameo, on the other hand, the 1891 is quite rare--a total of 12 coins in all levels of preservation have been seen by both services.<BR> The PR66 Deep Cameo offered in this lot displays amazing white-on-black contrast when the piece is observed from an overhead angle. An occasional wisp of light gold-tan color occurs at the margins, and the design elements are crisply struck. A couple of minuscule marks do not detract in the least from this outstanding piece.
