1891 $1 MS65 NGC. A perusal of the NGC and PCGS population figures reveals that Mint State 1891 dollars are abundant throughout the MS64 grade level, but the numbers fall precipitously in MS65 (specifically, from about 2,100 near-Gems to 145 MS65 pieces, and five specimens finer). A medley of soft golden-tan, violet, and powder-blue patina exhibits slightly deeper hues on the obverse, and glowing luster emanates from both sides. The design elements are well defined, and well preserved surfaces have a grainy finish, which is typical for the issue. Great overall eye appeal! Census: 67 in 65, 2 finer (12/07).

Coin Engraver: George T.
