This is cut glass of 1890s vintage, and it is a beaut! It has a crenellated, scalloped top with an etched flower on each of its sides. It has a six-pointed star on the bottom.

It measures 3 inches tall, 7 inches wide handle to handle, and 3 1/2 inches across the base. It is 3 5/8 inches across the top. I do not have the name of the design or the manufacturer.

Spooners were used from Victorian times through the early part of the 20th century. They were a standard part of a table service which included sugars, creamers, and pitchers. They generally were used either to hold unused spoons or to hold spoons which had been used, generally to stir coffee, tea, etc.

This will make a sparkling addition to one's Victorian glass collection!
