Measures 21”x 7” mounted on white matte measures 23”x 9”. Black print on white paper. Vignette of a map of the Missouri and Arkansas with a wheel with wings above it located in the top center. The poster reads “bound for the happy lands! Low Rates to Arkansas and Missouri.” The poster tells of the states richness of “honest and industrious citizens…peace, good order and good feeling.” Slight wear, tear on the upper right corner and right side. Small watermarks on the lower left corner and left side. Slight crease in the middle. Printed by Jon. McKittrick &Co., Printers 316 & 318 N. Third St., Louis. The St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway operated from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It ran from St. Louis, Missouri, to Texarkana, Arkansas, as well as to southeast Missouri. The railroad was robbed twice, once by the James-Younger Gang on January 31, 1874, at Gad's Hill, Missouri, and once by the Dalton Gangon November 3, 1893, at Olyphant, Arkansas.
