<B>1890 S$1 MS64 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS.</B></I> David Bowers (2005), writing about 1890 prooflike dollars, says that they " ... are also usually of low contrast. However, some DMPLs exist with cameo contrast and are worth a premium over the others." The near-Gem Deep Mirror Prooflike example in the current lot is one such coin. Its deeply mirrored fields establish a striking contrast with the frosty white motifs, which incidentally stands out at all angles from which the piece is observed. Untoned surfaces reveal sharply impressed design elements, and there are just a handful of minute marks that limit the grade.
