1890-CC<$5> MS62 PCGS. The 1890-CC half eagles were the first coined at the Carson City Mint since 1885. While they are generally available, the average survivor grades Choice AU or so; Gem examples are rare. The present specimen has pretty antique-gold surfaces with a middling strike, a tiny dark spot on the back of Liberty's neck near the forecurl, and only light abrasions that are consistent with the grade. The luster is good, and the eye appeal is high. Population: 44 in 62, 50 finer (9/06).
