<B>1890 $5 MS61 NGC.</B></I> With only 4,240 pieces struck, it is unsurprising that this issue would be elusive in any grade, and increasingly so as one progresses toward Mint State. Well struck with partially prooflike, moderately abraded yellow-orange surfaces that have small copper stains on the reverse. Interestingly, Garrett and Guth (2006) note: "The Smithsonian lacks a circulation-strike example of this date."
