<B>1889-CC $1 AU58 NGC.</B></I> This near-mint key-date representative displays a generous amount of luster retained on untoned surfaces. An impressive strike brought out sharp definition on the design elements of this specimen, including at least partial detail in the hair at Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers. We note a few scattered marks, but these are not out of line with what might be expected for a large, heavy coin that saw limited circulation.<BR> David Bowers (1993) writes of this issue: "The 1889-CC in Mint State is far and away the rarest Carson City Morgan dollar and handily outdistances its closest rivals, the elusive 1879-CC and 1893-CC.
