<B>1889 3CN MS67 PCGS.</B></I> RPD-002. Popular as the last year of issue, although the fate of this denomination was clear several years earlier in 1882, when mintages never again exceeded 40,000 pieces. The 1889 production was only 18,125 business strikes, of which this piece and a handful of others are tied for the finest known at either service. Repunching shows on the 89 in the date. The reverse is fairly prooflike with good contrast and golden glints, while the obverse is more satiny in texture.
