1889$1 PR64 Cameo PCGS. Perhaps conservatively graded, as a near-Gem, this lovely proof Dollar seems fully struck, displaying none of the allegedly typical flatness, above Liberty's ear and on the eagle's breast, complained of by Q. David Bowers in his encyclopedia of Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States,. Lovely cobalt-blue and crimson-pink toning embraces the nearly blemish-free surfaces, as the pristine, strikingly contrasted devices rest above unfathomably deep fields on each side. No bothersome hairlines seem evident, and a single tiny contact mark on the eagle's breast is seemingly the only one of its kind. Very scarce, with the Cameo designation from PCGS. Population: 5 in 64 Cameo, 4 finer (1/05).
