Rare 1888 or 1892 Benjamin Harrison Bridle Rosette. These decorations, made of brass with thick glass coverings, are found in the 1884-1900 era, and were placed on horse bridles for political parades and other public appearances where the candidate was to be promoted. They exist for both presidential and vice-presidential candidates, so they may have been used in pairs. Grover Cleveland and Blaine are, by far, the two most common; Harrison is deceptively tougher, especially in this choice condition. A particularly attractive variety, it features his portrait surrounded by a gold foil border decorated with a circle of embossed five-pointed stars. A great item for the Harrison specialist, or as fine a "type" example of a bridle rosette as one could find. Diameter 1.75".
