<B>1888 S$1 MS68 NGC.</B></I> This piece is sharply struck and highly lustrous with frosty silver surfaces that are accented by a trace of light gold toning along the obverse and reverse borders. While the mintage of 1888 Morgan dollars was nearly equal to that of 1887, it appears that a smaller number were stored in the Treasury over the years, and today the total population for this date is only one-quarter that of 1887. Even still, over 25,000 have been certified by NGC; however, just this one coin has received the MS68 grade by this grading company.
