1888-O S$1 MS67 NGC. Ex: Eliasberg. The layers of rich, original toning that encompass both sides of this lovely Superb Gem have much to do with ensuring the splendid eye appeal of the piece. Electric-blue and golden-brown near the edges, the coloration turns to gray-gold and mauve-brown near the centers. All of the design elements are crisply struck, save for the hair detail just above Liberty's ear. Bold cartwheel luster can be seen in the fields, especially when the coin is held close to a lamp. It is easy to see why the discriminating Mr. Eliasberg chose to include this beautiful Morgan dollar in his fabulous collection. The single finest-known 1888-O in existence, and the only one to be graded at MS67 by either of the major services. Census: 1 in 67, 0 finer (3/07).
Ex: John G.
