1888/7 1C --Cleaned--ANACS. AU58 Details. Snow-1. FS-301. The 1888/7 is the most important variety within the Indian cent series. Its closest competitor is the 1873 Closed 3 Doubled Liberty, but several high grade examples of that DDO are known. The 1888/7, however, remains extremely rare. NGC has yet to certify an example. The overdate status of the 1888/7 is uncontested. The base peers from the southwest corner of the final 8, and the two edges of the upper portion of the 7 are faintly visible, similar to the VAM-6 1880 "Spikes" Morgan dollar overdate. It should be mentioned that a different die of the 1888 cent (Snow-2, FS-010.7) was once proposed as an overdate, but is now considered a repunched date variety. This sharply struck example has unnatural cherry-red and navy-blue color, and the devices are slightly glossy. Nonetheless, it ranks among the boldest survivors of this rare and important overdate.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
