<B>1888 50C PR65 Cameo NGC.</B></I> Only one pair of dies was used to strike the 832 proofs from this year. However, all show an interesting die characteristic: a trace of a mispunched digit to the right of the shield point. Dick Osborn says it is the remnant of a misplaced 1, but there appears to be a bit of curvature to the digit and we suggest it may be part of an 8. This is a brilliant, deeply mirrored proof that shows noticeably contrasting mint frost over the devices.
