<B>1888 $3 PR65 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> This unmistakable proof has deeply mirrored fields with the distinct proof texture that frame the lustrous devices. Both sides have rich honey-gold color and extremely sharp design motifs. The mintage of 291 proofs is the highest of any date in the three dollar series, and it is possible that as many as 150 proofs still exist today. This is good news for the type collector who has a reasonable chance of obtaining a splendid Gem quality proof. The obverse has a round lintmark above the right side of the final S in STATES, and this should aid in pedigree research.
