1888 $3 MS64 PCGS. The 1888 has a mintage of just 5,000 pieces, but fortunately for today's numismatists, a few hundred examples were apparently secured and set aside by Philadelphia dealers of the day. A sharply struck straw-gold piece with occasional dashes of orange toning. UNITED is die doubled, a diagnostic of this popular issue that allows for identification without checking the date. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece from the Guttag Bros. of New York during the 1930s. A Guttag. Bros. envelope with notations "1888 $3 Gold Unc. 5291 Struck" included.
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
