<B>1887 S$1 MS68 NGC.</B></I> With a mintage of over 20 million coins, the 1887 Morgan silver dollar is among the most common dates in the series. Numerous bags were stored in the Treasury department for many years, prior to the massive release of silver dollars that took place nearly 50 years ago in the early 1960s. Despite the massive mintage and the long term storage of many thousands of coins, and the certified population that includes more than 100,000 examples graded by NGC alone, only three pieces have been awarded the MS68 grade by this firm, including one with the star designation.
