1887 G$1 MS67 PCGS. After 1878, gold dollars were cons
1887 G$1 MS67 PCGS. After 1878, gold dollars were considered little more than quaint curiosities, minted in token numbers that were largely saved by collectors. The 1887 issue, although produced only to the extent of 6,000 circulation strikes, was actually the largest emission after 1878's 82,304 business strikes. The present coin offers superlative luster radiating from the distraction-free antique-gold surfaces, with considerable prooflikeness visible. Mint frost is visible in the protected areas of ONE DOLLAR on the reverse and in some of the obverse peripheral letters. Both sides show considerable deep reddish-gold color that adds even more to the already-significant visual appeal of this coin.
