1887 G$1 MS66 PCGS. The 1887 is another low mintage issue from the 1880s with only 7,500 pieces struck. This piece must have been from a later state of the dies as it does not show any evidence of the prooflikeness that is often seen on this date. Sharply struck, the surfaces are smooth overall with the soft, frosted mint luster that is commonly seen on well-produced coins from the Philadelphia Mint. The medium orange-gold surfaces are virtually abrasion-free with the only noticeable mark that could be useful for pedigree purposes being a short planchet depression in the reverse field just to the right of the 1 in the denomination.
