<B>1887/6 S$1 MS66 PCGS.</B></I> Ex: Jackson Hole. VAM-2. A Top 100 Variety. Overdates in the Morgan dollar series appeared only in 1880 and 1887. The 1887/6 overdate varieties are known from the Philadelphia and New Orleans mints, leading some to suggest that a similar overdate could exist from San Francisco. This piece is important as it is an early die state with the overdate feature boldly visible, even without magnification. Both sides are fully brilliant and sharply struck. There is no evidence of toning on the silver-white surfaces. Both sides have frosty luster on the devices with satiny, slightly reflective luster in the fields.
