<B>1887/6 3CN PR68 Cameo NGC.</B></I> While the 1887/6 three cent nickel proof is a well-known variety (and the only variety for the metal and denomination listed in the 2007 <I>Guide Book</B></I>), less well known is that it contains a blundered date error as well. All four digits are visible in the denticles below the date, with the most visible an 8 that appears as a "bar" that bridges two of the denticles.<BR> The blundered date appears to best effect on this gleaming piece, which has definite contrast between the mirrored fields and the devices. This meticulously struck piece's overdate is plain and hardly requires magnification.
