1887 $3 PR66 Cameo PCGS. Bathed in rich orange-go
1887<$3> PR66 Cameo PCGS. Bathed in rich orange-gold tones which combine with the Cameo contrast to produce abundant visual appeal. The surfaces are as close to perfection as any collector could hope to find, with the intricate textured fields imparted by the striking process carefully preserved. This style of coin production is found only on proof gold. Although a number survive in comparable condition, this coin would certainly be near the top for the resplendent color and surfaces. Examination will note that this is one of the few produced with the reverse die rotated 180 degrees (medal turn). Identifiable by a very short lint mark midway in the field between the first S of STATES and the headband and a similar tiny lintmark near the vertical center of the back feather on Liberty's headdress, and one other lintmark extends off both base serifs of the last A in AMERICA. A majestic example for any advanced numismatist.
