1887 $3 MS63 PCGS. Although its mintage of 6,000 pieces is a higher than both the 1888 and 1889, the 1887 three dollar gold piece is the scarcest of the three issues in higher grades. All business strike 1887 three dollar gold pieces were struck from a doubled obverse die. This feature is most recognizable on the RICA of AMERICA, but the last 5 letters of LIBERTY also display evidence of doubling. The thickly frosted surfaces show noteworthy cartwheel effects and powerfully struck devices. Deep yellow-gold coloration dominates both sides with blushes of copper iridescence scattered throughout. Housed in a green label holder.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
