1887 $3 MS62 PCGS. One of the most illuminating facts about the nature of the three dollar gold series is that the 1887, with a scant 6,000 pieces coined, is one of the more available later dates! The present example is a lovely Mint State survivor that has exemplary luster and suitably impressed devices. Slightly hazy with a number of light, yet grade-defining abrasions. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece for $8.00 from the Guttag Bros. of New York during the 1930s. A Guttag Bros. envelope with the notes "1887 Three Dollar Gold Br. Unc. $8.00" accompanies lot.
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
