In the mid-1920s, according to Bowers, additional coins were released into circulation from storage at the San Francisco Mint, and scattered bags were released by western banks. The main source for pieces on the market today, however, was from the Redfield hoard. The Gem specimen we offer here displays splotches of electric-blue, russet, and mauve-purple overlying lustrous surfaces. The design elements are well struck, except for softness in the hair over Liberty's ear. Well preserved surfaces are devoid of significant marks. PCGS has seen 32 coins grading finer (1/06).
