<B>1886-S $5 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> The San Francisco Mint struck no double eagles in this year--the only such gap from 1854 to 1911--but it made up for it in spades with the mintage of more than 3.26 million half eagles, plus a considerable number of eagles. It is mystifying why no more Gems exist, but PCGS has certified only six coins in MS65, with none finer (4/07).
