This is an original territorial bounty warrant from Montana. The warrant is dated "1886" from Lewis & Clark County in Helena, Montana Territory. The warrant is for eight dollars for killing a mountain lion. The etching surrounding the warrant was done by J.K. Ralston, well known Montana Western artist. From the etching, it reads: "Thisi is one of the original warrants of the Territory of Montana. Many of the early day pioneers were bounty hunters. In fact most of them were dependent on the bounty paid for animals shown on this document for their cash needs. The bounty animals were wolf, coyote, bear, mountain lion, squirrel and prairie dog, as depicted by the famous western artist, J.K. Ralston.". The warrant has nicely framed with the etching. The frame measures 11.5" x 13.5".
