1886<5C> MS65 PCGS. The second 8 in the date is recut on its outer upper left loop. Most high grade survivors of this date are Proofs, with Mint State examples being quite rare. In fact, this date has the lowest population in the entire series for MS65 or better grades. Second in rarity is the underrated 1896 issue. A lightly toned silver-gold Gem with pleasing luster and a razor-sharp strike. Several contact marks show on the obverse, but the surfaces are otherwise immaculate. A popular low mintage date. Population: 25 in 65, 3 finer (5/05).
