1886 1C Type Two PR65 Red Cameo PCGS
1886 1C Type Two PR65 Red Cameo PCGS. Ex: Palm Beach. The 1886 issue saw a subtle shift in the design of the Indian cent that involved slight rearrangement of the feathers in the headdress. On pre-1886 coins and examples from earlier in that year, the lowest feather points between the I and C of AMERICA; on later pieces, it points between the C and A. Among proofs, the latter variety forms a tiny minority.
This recently certified specimen does not appear in the PCGS Population Report as of (12/07), but when it does, it will be the finer of just two pieces with a Cameo designation for the Variety 2 subtype. The fields are lemon-gold with hints of orange, while distinct rose-orange accents visit the portrait. Both sides offer pleasing contrast, excellent preservation, and wonderful eye appeal. Arguably the most important 1886 Type Two proof cent on the market today.

Coin Engraver: James B.
