1886 1C Type Two PR64 Red PCGS. A hub change in 1886 resulted in two different varieties of the 1886 proof Indian Cent. Type Two examples, such as the present coin, show the lowest feather in Liberty's headdress pointing between the CA in AMERICA. On Type One specimens, this feather points between the IC in AMERICA. Snow (1992) states that more than half (2,500 pieces) of the proofs delivered this year were of the Type Two variety. The fields on each side are deeply mirrored and each side shows streaky deep reddish patina. A grade-limiting contact mark on Liberty's cheek and a few freckles of carbon on the reverse prevent a higher grade. Population: 9 in 64, 4 finer (1/03).From the Colburn Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
