This historical, heavily worn one dollar banknote was issued by the Merchants and Planters Bank in the State of Georgia, specifically in Savannah, during the mid-19th century. Printed by Danforth, Wright & Co. The central vignette features a detailed pastoral scene of horse-drawn covered wagons, possibly referencing the agrarian commerce integral to Georgia's antebellum economy. Framing this imagery are ornate denomination counters and engraved portraits including a bearded gentleman on the lower left and a building vignette at the lower center.
